Water rates for Greater Vernon residents are expected to rise
5.5% next year.
Water Manager Al Cotsworth says the increase is for inflation, plus three percent for capital upgrades. Cotsworth tells Kiss FM,'2007 will see a start to the Duteau Water Treatment Plant which is the biggestproject in the Master Water Plant. So that is consuming alot of our efforts right now with respect topre-design and grant applications.' Water rates went up by about two percent this year, after the regional district board voted-down aproposed larger hike.(Pete McIntyre)
