Vernon property owners are looking at a 2.8 percent increase in taxes next year. Finance Manager, Rob Mayne says the Finance Committee has asked staff to find a one percent reduction in spending to hold the line on an increase. Mayne says they have till January 22nd to find 227-thousand dollars in savings. The rest will come from the 790-thousand dollar surplus the city has from a reduction in debt costs and an increase in revenue from building permits. Betty Selin, Standard Radio News
