Families in two Vernon neighbourhoods had to go to school and work without a shower or coffee Friday morning. There were two water main breaks overnight. Greater Vernon Water Manager, Al Cotsworth says homes on the west side of Swan Lake in the Blue Jay subdivision, Stepping Stone and Old Kamloops road are without water. A second break on the east side of Swan Lake is affecting everyone north of Silver Star Road.Cotsworth says it will be afternoon before the repairs can be made and when the water does come back on it will be dirty, so you will have to run your tap for a while. He recommends a bathtub.Cotsworth says they don't know why the breaks happened, but alarm calls came in about 1am.The phone rang off the hook at BX Elementary School with students and parents wondering if there was school. The School had water, and it was class as usual.
