Four Vernon Organizations Receive a Major Boost in Funding
Organizations receiving funding include:
• Vernon and District Hospice Society - $100,000: Phase two of expansion of the hospice from 6 to 12 beds to ensure capacity for a growing population and eliminate waitlists.
• Lavington Community Association (Coldstream) - $38,687: Purchase of ice maintenance equipment to ensure consistent usability of an outdoor ice rink open for all the community to enjoy.
• Vernon Curling and Athletic Club - $35,210: Installation of personal access life to allow mobility challenged members access to the second floor.
• Vernon Community Arts Council - $18,400: Installation of an elevator allows elderly and physically impaired people to access the Youth arts and other art programs on the 2nd floor.
Provincial funding is provided through the capital grant program, which provides grants to eligible organizations with funds from government gaming revenues. To be eligible for a capital grant, organizations must be non-profit, benefit local communities, and have volunteers in key positions.
