Buffy Baumbrough was elected as the Liberal candidate for the Okanagan-Shuswap riding and will oppose the local M.P. Colin Mayes of the Conservatives in the next election.
She defeated the second place candidate Jake Ootes by a narrow 12 votes. There were 126 votes cast at the Salmon Arm and Vernon Locations. 42 in Salmon Arm and the balance of 84 in Vernon. Former long term planner for City of Vernon, Darwin Horning introduced Baumbrough to the approximately 70 people gathered in Vernon while Mr. Ootes was introduced by local Spall Mayor Hansma. Speeches by all three candidates were impressive and the vote tabulation was so efficient that the when the only member of the Media arrived at 4:15, the results had already been announced. The Kiss Fm reporter did get an full interview with the anointed candidate Buffy Baumbrough.
The other print media was noticeable only by its absence. Hopefully their disdain for the nomination process of last election's third place party is not their concession of the incoming election to our local incumbent M.P. Colin Mayes. This election may prove closer than they expect.

Anyone replacing Mayes will be an improvement.Perhaps if she will act as an independent and not be a lacky of Dion she might have a chance
Mrs.Baumbrough has character, and the drive to do great things. From living in vernon to travelling the world, she has seen and brought back many great ideas that will see Vernon to the top. Fantastic candidate and i will her all the best!
Take a look at who is filling out the list for the next election? I for one am glad to see a woman like Ms. Baumbrough run. Here is a candidate with drive. Look at what she had done for Vernon!!! It's a refreshing change for someone to acknowledge problems can't have a quick fix. Could it be, an honest politician?!?!? It wouldn't matter what party she ran for, I would still vote for Buffy!
