No More Funding Woes for Women's Centre
The Vernon Women's Centre has a new lease on life. The agency, which has been in danger of closing, has secured long term funding from the BC Law Foundation. Executive Director Ann Forrest says its a big relief, 'This will secure our centre for at least the next three years and we also see it as a renewal process where we don't have to continually scramble to keep the centre open.'The Centre will continue to offer its drop in shower and laundry services, and will also be hiring a legal advocate for a legal information and advocacy program. Forrest says under the deal, they will provide the advocacy service for women and men.
