The removal of pine beetle infested trees from Mission Creek Regional Park began yesteday. Any wood debris that can't be sold, will be chipped and hauled to Tolko's cogeneration plant to be used as hog fuel instead of being burned in the park as was originally planned. The work will be stopped this weekend though so it doesn't interfere with Family Environment Day activities planned for Sunday. Approximately 100 infested trees are being removed.
