Another $1,500 has been contributed to the Downtown Vernon Association’s Security Partners campaign. Nolan’s Pharmacy has provided $1,000 towards private security patrols while Sanders Medical has contributed $500. “Downtown Vernon is the soul of our community and we have to look after it, and that includes security,” said Tom Nolan, with Nolan’s Clinic Pharmacy. Dr. Bill Sanders, owner of Sanders Medical, is also a solid booster of the patrols. “My staff and I strongly support this initiative and, in fact, have noticed an improvement in the entire atmosphere in the downtown area since the initiative was begun,” he said. The goal of the campaign is to keep the foot patrols in place after April 30, when DVA’s funds, which have been covering the cost of the patrols so far, will be exhausted. The campaign has currently raised $33,800.
