Martial Arts Event Problems

Starlee Speers, Standard Radio News http://www.vernon.thesun.net/node/521052

Saturday night's all right for fighting but only if you're in a cage. Corporal Henry Proce with Vernon RCMP says, some of the spectators at the King of the Cage event over the weekend got rowdy as well. He says, there were a number of assaults and the event needs to be better policed. Vernon RCMP want to meet with the city to discuss the future of the mixed martial arts fights. City Councillor Jack Gilroy says, Vernon's Athletic Commission will be more than happy to meet with police about future King of the Cage events. Gilroy says, he's aware of the fight which occured in the audience but hadn't heard about any other problems. He says the fight in the audience was caused by out of towners, not Vernon locals. Gilroy thinks the King of the Cage event was a success and its too bad a few people are ruining it for others.
