Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks.
Let 'em be politicians and lawyers and such.
SUNDRE, Alta. (CP) - A long-serving Conservative member of Parliament from central Alberta says he won't be running in the next federal election. Myron Thompson says at 72, he's finding it hard to keep up with the rigours of being an MP. Thompson also says he needs ankle-replacement surgery, and that it's been difficult for him to get around lately. He says he doesn't expect an election for quite some time, but wants to give his constituency association plenty of notice. Thompson, who represents the constituency of Wild Rose, was first elected as a Reform MP in 1993. He says he considers his work fighting child pornography to be among the highlights of his time as an MP.
