Coldstream Delays Decision on Farm Land

It will be the fall before Coldstream Council makes a decision on turning farm land into sports fields. Greater Vernon Services has a preliminary deal to buy 106 acres from the Coldstream Ranch at Aberdeen Road and Highway 6. The GVS would convert the land into playing fields and a sports complex. The plan still needs to get approval from Coldstream and the Agricultural Land Commission to be used for non farm use. District councillors discussed the issue Monday night but Mayor Gary Corner says council decided to defer a decision until after a public meeting September 11-th at a location to be announced. Corner says given that there is some opposition to removing the land from the ALR, more time and input is needed before a decision is made.
