Vernon's mayor says in his eyes residents have sent a very clear message. 27-hundred 77 signatures were needed to defeat the petition to determine if 20 million would be borrowed to build the new library complex. The city received 6-thousand. Now Mayor Wayne Lippert says its time to move on. 'Well I can't speak for council but I believe we need to get on with the library. The library has been trying to build for 5 years or better. Personally I believe we should let them go ahead. We can put the other stuff on hold, re-think it or whatever its up to council.'
The city clerk will be making the official presentation of the counter petitions to council at a special open meeting on Friday. Council will then discuss what will happen next at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday.

Don Quixote Note: I wonder if the total will be announced so the number of names on petitions not handed in directly by the Vernon Taxpayers Association team can be determined?
