A long-awaited expansion of Vernon’s Hospice House is about to get underway. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the facility at 3506 27th Ave. “With the hole dug, it means it’s happening,” said Brenda Thorlakson, executive director. As part of the ceremony, politicians, public figures and businesspeople will participate in a digging challenge. Prizes will be awarded for the deepest hole and to the individual who raised the most pledges. Among those who will be picking up shovels are MP Colin Mayes, MLA Tom Christensen and representatives from all municipal governments in the North Okanagan.
