Bylaw Enforcement

The Vernon and District Taxpayer's Association is upset they won't be allowed to make a presentation at Monday's council meeting regarding the city's bylaw enforcement. Council will be discussing a staff proposal to increase the hours of three bylaw officers as a solution to concerns about downtown safety. The group is also concerned that the bylaw division now reports to the RCMP officer in charge, which the association says is a change in civic function, without a public hearing and input. They're also unhappy their correspondence with the city was copied to the Inspector of the RCMP.
