The City of Vernon is getting into the real estate business. The city has agreed to buy the Vernon Medical Clinic property and exchange land and buildings owned by the Elks Club and Legion, for space in a new building to be developed on a downtown parking lot.Councillor Pat Cochrane says, there should have been more public consultation on the plans for the parking lot."We use the OCP as justification for not dealing with the property on the Landing, but with a very important property downtown it's not an issue anymore. I just think there should be some consistency."The city's call for expressions of interest for the Bennett Parking lot on 29th Avenue closes on November 6th.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
