Health Care for the Marginalized

Starlee Speers, Standard Radio News

Community partners and Interior Health are hoping a street clinic opening in Vernon next month will help fill a gap in health care.Peter du Toit with IH says, the Downtown Primary Health Centre is not the same as the walk-in clinic used by the general public."It's actually quite different from a walk-in clinic. There's a fair portion of the population downtown that find it very difficult to go to any sort of physician or clinic because they fell marginalized."He says, the clinic will provide primary medical and dental care. The clinic will go next to the Friendship centre on 29th avenue and is expected to open in the third week of November.
