Some Questions that would be Interesting to ask at this information centre.
  • How much is spent by the Province for Problem Gambling and is this a fixed percentage?
  • How much is spent by the Province for advertising and casino promotions like this public information session and is it a fixed percentage that recently has been raised? (answer is On April 1, 2006, the joint marketing fee increased from 0.75% to 1.5% of net win, which amounted to an increase in marketing and promotion expenses at the Burnaby Casino of $325,000 in the six months ended June 2007 from the same period in 2006. These funds, as well as those paid by other
    operators, are placed in a joint marketing fund held by the BCLC to promote BC’s casino industry, both within and outside the province. Of the Fund’s casinos, the Burnaby Casino and Cascades Casino are the only two casinos that currently contribute to this fund. )
  • How much of the Casino revenue dollars comes from outside this area, i.e from visitors or tourists ? (answer is between 6% and 15% best estimate by my calculations.)
  • What was the last years annual revenue at the Vernon Casino? (answer is $28,540,144 of which $27,109,534 comes from slots and $1,430,610 came from table games for 2007 fiscal)
  • What was the City of Vernon's cut? (answer is $1,763,005 for 2007 fiscal)
  • Why is Vernon's cut only 6.18% of total. (answer Vernon gets its 10% cut of net after the Casino takes its COSA share and its FDF share and then Vernon takes 10% of this net which translates into 6.18% of gross).
  • What is the take or win from an average slot machine? (the slot machine is programmed for an average return to the player of 92% or conversely a 8% take for the house. The average B.C. slots takes in $125,000 per year with a Vernon slot bringing in $129,000.)
  • How many employees and what percentage of the revenue is used for payroll?
  • What percentage of Casino take is estimated to remain in Community?
  • What percentage of the revenue goes to the Provincial Government each year?
  • What is the estimated revenue that you expect to reach with this Casino expansion? (answer at a 67% net increase as forecast by analysts who follow company, will be $47,662,040 of which the City will increase their share by $ 1,181,213 to bring their total take in a full year to $2,944,218 )
  • What is the Facility Development Fund? (FDF) Answer 3% of Gross Revenue.
  • What is the Accelerated Facility Development Fund? (AFDF) Answer is an additional 2% of gross revenue until expansion costs are fully paid.
  • Could you confirm the following: The Casino slot machine revenue in B.C. from the 1999/00 fiscal year to the 2006/07 fiscal year is $3,869,841,940. (That's Billions) ?
    The Casino slot machine revenue in Vernon from the 1999/00 fiscal year to the 2006/07 fiscal year is $169,400,411. ? ($10,524,818 is the City of Vernon's payoff )
