Sean Harvey's legal woes have come back to haunt him. The former mayor of Vernon, who was forced to resign after admitting that he falsified expense claims, is facing criminal charges in connection with a separate matter. "On October 2nd, 2007 the RCMP "E" Division Commercial Crime Section charged Sean Calven Harvey of Salmon Arm, B,C. with six criminal charges," says Constable Julie Rattee.
"Five counts are charges of criminal fraud in excess of $5,000 pursuant to Section 380(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. One count is a charge of forgery pursuant to Section 367 of the Criminal Code. These charges pertain to alleged activities that happened between January 2003 and April 2005 and were sworn at Vernon Provincial Court in Vernon, B.C." Rattee says the charges stem from an investigation that began in August 2005 and are not related to Harvey's duties when he was mayor. The charges have to do with a former business partner, a Vernon dentist, who's been alleging fraud against Harvey for several years. Harvey is due in court November 14.
