By Pete McIntyre 107.5KISSFM

Vernon's top cop is pleased the B-C government is standing behind police use of Taser guns.RCMP Inspector Steve McVarnock tells KISS FM, the stun guns are an effective tool to subdue people, in certain situations. "There are cases where the Taser is used where if you didn't have that intervention option, you might be using lethal force. Even if the lethal force is justified, that officer still has to live with that decision, regardless of if it was justified."Solicitor General John Les has ruled out banning the devices, despite a call by a civil liberties watchdog.Les says R-C-M-P have used the stun guns more than 900 times since 2005, with only two fatalities. A Polish man died after he was zapped by a Taser at the Vancouver airport earlier this month.
