Bylaw Officers Dismantle Makeshift Home

Starlee Speers, Astral Media Radio News

A couple of homeless people lost their makeshift shelter on Friday when it was taken down by Vernon bylaw officers. Clint Kanester with bylaw enforcement says, they received complaints about people living under the footbridge off 25th avenue. "We have had more than one. Certainly people who are using that footpath don't want to be suprised at night by someone climbing out from underneath it." Kanester says, some people who are homeless choose not to access the shelter because of their requirements. Earlier this week a makeshift shelter at the old Sigalet building on 32nd street was boarded up after a man was arrested there with a sawed-off shotgun.
