Don Quixote submits OCP survey. Deadline Tomorrow.

OCP SURVEY Sun FM

Vernon residents don't have much longer to express their opinion about how they want to see future growth in the city.Long Ranger Planner, Kim Flick says Friday is the survey deadline and there will also be a display of the options for the Official Community Plan at the Village Green Mall. She says interest seems to be increasing in the final few days of public input into Vernon's Official Community Plan.Flick says after that they will be going through the surveys and the option that gets the most support from the community is the one that will go forward to council.Flick says the plan will go to Council in January and in February the public will have a look at the draft of the transportation part of the O-C-P.

  1. Rank the proposed land use options, with number 1 indicating your first choice, 2 your second choice and 3 your third choice.

    1. 3 Modified "Business as Usual" (growth happens throughout the entire city).
    2. 2 Hybrid (growth concentrated in the built up area of the city).
    3. 1 Neighbourhood Centres (growth concentrated in the City Centre District & Neighbourhood Centres).

  2. Why did you rank them in this order?

Because that is my preferred order.

  3. Do you have any comments about the supporting policies and strategies of your preferred option?

    1. Hillside Residential Strategy, Environmental Management Strategy
    2. Hillside Residential Strategy, Environmental Management Strategy, Development Districts
    3. Hillside Residential Strategy, Environmental Management Strategy, Development Districts, Multiple Family Development focused in City Centre District and Neighbourhood Centres

DCC's must be addressed immediately and updated as to charges. Sector DCC's must follow asap. Hire a DCC consultant expert to perform this (this should have happened 2 years ago) and recommend a method of an annual review of these charges.

  4. In your preferred option, would you change any land use designation?

Designation refers to what is intended for that land, such as Residential - Low Density, or Community Commercial. Please use an address, if possible, or describe the area or location that you are referring to.

Airport - s/b relocated or eliminated - heliport built near hospital for medi-vac and land transformed into light industrial with part of the land nearest Marshall Field becoming recreational.
