Vernon Plows Through Snow Budget

The city of Vernon is having to dip into reserves for this year's snow removal. They've plowed through the entire 472-thousand dollar budget. Operations Manager Shirley Koenig says it has been expensive because rather than one big snowfall its been the on-going snowfalls in January and February, then again in late November and right through December, The city of Vernon crews will continue to clean the streets Koenig says they expect to take 45-thousand dollars from the reserves.

Balance in Snow Removal Reserve at Dec 31, 2006 year end was $339,555. The 2007 budget for Snow & Ice Control was $472,009 and this years 2008 proposed budget is for a 10.9% increase to $523,515.
