The Greater Vernon Services Committee will not waive fees for a proposed affordable housing project. The Vernon Native Housing Society had asked for a break on development cost charges for a housing initiative on 19th Avenue. However, GVSC board members followed a staff recommendation to continue charging DCCs so there isn’t a negative impact on the budget or water rates.While he supported that move, director Wayne Lippert expressed some concerns about the situation.“Affordable hosing is an issue that affects all of us in Greater Vernon,” he said.
