Taxpayer's Association Compliment Council

Pete McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM

After several months of critical comments, the Vernon Taxpayers Association is actually giving praise to Mayor Wayne Lippert. Group spokesman Tony Stamboulieh commends the mayor for suggesting a citizen's committee be formed to determine the best way to meet the needs of the RCMP, art gallery and museum. Lippert says he would welcome the group's input as one member of the committee. "I wouldn't have any problem putting one of their members on there. I would like make sure we have a balanced mixture of city representation as well as representation from Greater Vernon."The tax group suggests it should be in charge of finding the committee members, which it would submit to council for approval.Lippert doesn't see that happening. He says the city legally has to come up with the terms of reference for any committee, and then
advertise for members.

Mayor Lippert can advise the terms of reference and the Taxpayers'Association will abide by them
However Mayor Lippert needs to back off and allow the Taxpayers to get involved in the process
Mayor Lippert has shown poor judgment in all of his attempts to impose his views on the taxpayers as evidenced by his abject failure in the civic complex issue

Time for real leadership and that sometimes means for people like Lippert to back off and allow others to show the way
Don't hold your breath though
His record has shown someone who is predisposed to dictate
