Mayor Says End of GVS is Near

Greater Vernon Services as we know it has likely met its demise. That from Vernon Mayor Wayne Lippert who says, as of Wednesday's North Okanagan Regional District Meeting, Parks and Rec is now the only GVS function a member hasn't asked to withdraw from. "The original concept (of GVS) was good and in theory it should have worked out well." Electoral directors for areas B and C have announced intentions to withdraw from the GVS governance service. The city of Vernon is in the process of withdrawing from GVS water distribution and awaiting approval of a binding arbitration process from the Province.
