A vote on limiting how many slot machines are in Vernon has been deferred another two weeks, after councillors failed to get a requested response from MLA Tom Christensen. On the table is a City of Vernon staff recommendation to limit the number of slot machines to 400. Council deferred the matter at its April 28 meeting, hoping to have some of their questions on the matter answered by the MLA. “The mayor (Wayne Lippert), Coun. (Buffy) Baumbrough and myself met with Tom Christensen on April 4, we asked some questions about slot machines, and we were told we’d have a response in 30 days,” said Coun. Barry Beardsell at Monday’s regular meeting. “I phoned his office on Friday to determine a response, and phoned the Friday before that. He has not returned calls. “I’m very disgusted by the lack of response from our MLA.” Beardsell moved to defer the matter for another two weeks, to council’s next meeting on May 26, in hopes they get a response from the MLA. The motion was unanimously approved.
DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
