House Ethics Committee Chair Paul Szabo allowed to subpoena unwilling witnesses.
The House Access to Information, Privacy, and Ethics Committee wants to hear from Conservative influential backroomers, fundraisers, party insiders, and top strategists when the committee meets next month as it continues its controversial investigation into the Conservatives' alleged $1.3-million "in and out" election campaign spending scheme.
Opposition MPs last week passed a list of some 79 witnesses they would like to see the week of Aug. 11. The Conservatives weren't able to get even one witness approved.
