OCP Discussion

Starlee Speers, Astral Media Radio - Vernon

Vernon council held a public Q and A session this morning with planning staff to discuss the draft Official Community Plan. Mayor Wayne Lippert says, council wants the maps made clearer so there's a better understanding of where the city wants development to occur. Lippert says he wants to make the designations clear so it shows that Vernon is open for business. The public hearing for the OCP draft has been set for August 11th but a location hasn't been decided yet.

Vernon needs the business that Vernon citizens want not the special interests!

After the next election the new mayor and council will take a good look at the disastrous developments that have scarred our beautiful city and take appropriate measures!

Measures that will be supported by the majority!!

When the hell will the city ever get anything finished. They can never decide on anything, public hearings, council meetings to finalize things keep getting pushed off to the future. We need new and YOUNG blood in those seats. Not people who should have retired a century ago.

Well we had 'young blood' with Harvey!!

No we need people with common sense who can explain clearly and succinctly their positions to the citizens so that the taxpayers are on board

We need INTELLIGENT people who are also go -ahead and inclusive and who do not cater to special interests and we need people who can read and respect the majority consensus

We need people who practise consensus democracy for the general good and not for the greedy special interests

We need people who look after the tax dollars in a wise open and accountable way and who do not dictate when being on council is about public SERVICE!!
