There are two fewer crack houses supplying the addicts of Vernon. Police in the North Okanagan city executed two search warrants simultaneously at around noon Wednesday. The homes were at 1904 and 1906 44th Street. "The searches were conducted as a result of a lengthy on-going drug investigation and numerous complaints from the public in the area," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk. "Ten people were arrested inside the two homes along with a three-year-old child that has since been turned over to the Ministry of Children for its safety." Molendyk says powder cocaine, crack cocaine, cash and assorted drug paraphernalia were also seized. He says one male and one of the females arrested had outstanding warrants. Two people face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine. Molendyk says the homes have been posted under Vernon's Drug By-Law, which means the homes must be brought up to health and safety standards before they can be occupied.
