How does a volunteer get fired? Coldstream Council has let go the chief of their Volunteer Fire Department. Leo Lecavalier was just short of 25-years of service and has been the chief for 12 years when he got the letter is dismissal last Friday. Coldstream Deputy Chief, Lawrie Skolrood, says he's still in shock, it came as a, "complete surprise" and "a spike has been driven in the heart of volunteerism". Skolrood says Lecavalier was, "so community committed and gave so much to the Fire Department". Skolrood is now the acting chief, but he says they've been given no direction from Council. He says Lecavalier has encouraged firefighters to continue providing fire protection because the community's safety is the top priority. Coldstream residents will soon have a new fire hall, but it's not known how long it will be till they have a new chief.

We don't obviously have all of the facts...However,the actions of a disfunctional council like Coldstream can be predictable.
But to dismiss a hard working and dedicated "volunteer" like Mr LECAVALIER who is a consummate gentleman, is absolutely stupid. This is a man who has given almost 25 years of his life to volunteer to protect our property and lives and he deserves our sincere gratitude and not the disrespect he has received from this band of fools.
I would challenge every member of the council who were in volved in that decision to release Mr LECAVALIER to make their names public and provide their rationale for the dismissal.
coldstream council under the stewardship of Corner is the definition of Dysfunctional as is the same definition for Vernon council under the impersonation of leadership of one Lippert
We can only go up come november
