Park insurance settled two years after fire

By Peter McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM

Today marks two years since the historic grandstand in Polson Park burned down, and finally there's an update on the insurance claim. Greater Vernon Services chairman Gary Corner says the insurance provider has settled the claim with a cash payout, which he wasn't divulging to the media. "I'm not sure that's been released publicly yet but it's substantial and certainly we want to keep that within the parks, especially Polson Park." Corner says the GVS will have to determine if new grand-stands are needed, and if other changes will be made to the park. The nearly 100 year old grandstands were destroyed in an unsolved arson fire on August 15, 2006.
