There was a lot of community spirit present in Peachland this past week as its Green City projects were officially opened. Five grants, totalling about one million dollars, led to construction of two Spirit Squares, a beach waterfront walkway, improvements to Swim Bay and a residential and commercial water metering program. Mayor Graham Reid says council wanted everything done in time for Peachland's 100th anniversary. The green projects were designed to get Peachland residents and visitors outside and active. Peachland celebrates it's 100th anniversary January 1, 2009.

Don Quixote Note: In early April the Grants Status Report was brought forward for Council's information and comment. Indications were that this would be a quarterly report. There hasn't been a second quarter report yet. (Brief history below)
- On Monday April 14 a Grant Status report Agenda Package - 3.5MB P.22 will be given to council.
- Feb 13 Original Posting: It seems that the Provincial Government is announcing these Spirit Square Legacy grants every second day. Hopefully our City has applied for such a grant for Polson Park. Is it up to the City or GVSC to apply and what is happening with the Insurance money from the Arson in that park? We have a grants officer in Vernon and it might be interesting to get a report on the outstanding grants that are being applied for, grants that have been applied for and were not successful and those grants that were successful. A Quarterly report to Council and the public might be useful?
