Thought for the day.

It seems that the City's Lawyers (who I pay For as a taxpayer of Vernon) and NORD's Lawyers (who I pay at least 50% for as a Vernon Taxpayer at the Regional District) are giving advice to their respective Administrators that they are CORRECT in their interpretation of whether NORD has followed the correct procedure in repealing the GVSC establishment bylaw.

Well one of them is wrong. When it is finally decided by the Province or a Court of Law will the taxpayer be reimbursed by the losing lawyer?

Somehow it doesn't seem fair that the same taxpayer pays for both sides of this dispute. Maybe the two competing Administrators should have a stake in this and the Losing Administrator can pay for the losing Lawyer ?

Disagreements between lawyers is what brings about lawsuits. If a legal advice was 100% correct we would not need courts and judges. In this case the city's lawyer appears to be wrong. NORD had given and NORD can take it away! If it required 13 votes to create GVSC it requires 13 votes to rescind it.

The average legal costs to lawyers for advice to the City of Vernon is over 200 000 dollars per annum

A nice tidy sum for a lawyer!
