Update on replies from the Leaders re GST charged on Carbon Tax

To date only Elizabeth May of the Green Party has given a definite meaningful answer on this subject. I have been promised by the Premier and my Local MLA Tom Christensen that Honourable Colin Hansen, Minister of Finance will ensure I receive a response specific to my concern. I will share that reply when received although it has been 20 days since the written assurance from the premier and 4 days since the phone message from my MLA.

I did get a written response from both Stephane Dion and Jack Layton that took more time and thought to write nothing than if they would have actually answered my question. I naively wished to believed that these two leaders thought their answer out and actually took some time to think out their non responsive response but I realize that actually what I got was the form letter sent to all wing nuts who write to their respective offices.

For your amusement I Post the e-mails received:
July 21:
On behalf of the Honourable Stéphane Dion, we would like to acknowledge receipt of your correspondence and thank you for taking the time to contact the Leader of the Opposition. It is an extraordinary feature of our democracy that there exists clear lines of communication with our elected representatives. However, due to the high volume of correspondence that we receive it may take some time before we can reply. Mr. Dion always appreciates hearing from Canadians and being made aware of their views. Please be assured your comments and concerns have been reviewed and noted. We are confident that by working together we will achieve Stéphane Dion's vision for an economically prosperous, socially progressive and environmentally sustainable Canada.

Sincerely,
The Office of the Honourable Stéphane Dion, P.C., M.P.
Leader of the Opposition
Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada

Aug 1:
With Parliament now in recess, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your earlier email. I appreciate having received comments and suggestions from so many Canadians over these past few months. Regrettably, I am not able to provide as detailed a response as I would
like. First, I want you to know that all correspondence received is helpful in our work in advancing the concerns of Canadians. From the start of this minority parliament, I have said that the NDP will work to find ways to move Canada forward. As you know, good opposition not only opposes, but proposes. In that spirit, I invite you to visit http://www.ndp.ca/page/6547 to learn more about how the NDP spent this past session of Parliament fighting to make life more affordable and fair for everyone.

You can find information on some of our key issues by visiting: http://www.ndp.ca/workingfamiliesfirst as well as reading recent press releases, speeches, articles, and statements on the "hot" issues at:http://www.ndp.ca/headlines. I recommend that you check back on aregular basis to view our latest policy announcements.

Finally, I believe that politics should be about making life better for our citizens and communities. Please know you can count on the NDP to speak out for fairness and fight for issues that matter. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your views. All the best.

Sincerely,
Jack Layton, MP (Toronto-Danforth)
Leader, Canada's New Democrat
