The former head of B.C. Lottery Corp. was paid $94,000 in bonuses the year he was fired, despite a scathing report that found the Crown corporation was failing to protect customers from possible fraud, CBC News has learned. Details of former president Vic Poleschuk's bonus and other payouts were revealed in documents obtained by a freedom of information request by CBC News. With his severance and bonuses, Poleschuk became the highest-paid civil servant in British Columbia in 2007, bringing in a total package worth $829,644. Seven other B.C. Lottery executives were also given bonuses that year, totalling another quarter of a million dollars.
