As part of the RCMP’s commitment to boost its recruiting efforts and streamline the application process, 16 British Columbians will be enrolled on Wednesday September 17th in a historic ceremony.
As the RCMP works to meet its National recruiting goal of hiring 2,000 members a year for the next 5 years, a new Accelerated Application Process (AAP) has been implemented and British Columbians responded. This process has allowed the RCMP to put a limited number of potential applicants through the hiring process in 83 days. The traditional process can take an average 333 days. The RCMP Pacific Region Recruiting Team worked hard to advised the public of this unique opportunity. Special career presentations were held and in the end 16 new cadets are ready to head to the RCMP training facility DEPOT in Troops 28 and 29 within the next few weeks.
"This fast track process is designed to deliver recruits to the front line sooner” says S/Sgt. Doug Ferguson, Pacific Region Recruiting. “The candidates still have to meet all of the qualifications, but the processing has been streamlined. It was an amazing effort from a number of people in our organization to ensure that everything from the marking exams, interviews, security checks, fitness evaluation and the physical tracking of all the paper work associated to the 131 steps in the application process was completed under tight deadlines".

My son is one of the 16 recruits, he's in Troop 28 leaving a week on Sunday. This process was so much faster for the recruits, but the stress levels were high because there was a lot expected of you in a very short time. Still, at the end, he was very grateful to have been able to be part of this new program and is both excited and a bit nervous about heading to Depot.
My son is in week 20 at the Depot. He went through the same stress spread over about a year to get in. He has just received his posting and I look forward to his graduation.
If you haven't found it already read http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/depot/diary/d01_e.htm which gives a 24 week by week view of what is happening at depot.
Good luck to your son.
We did read that diary ... there were a couple of more we found as well that were unofficial lol. Do you mind me asking if your son got posted back to BC?
Yes he got a posting back to Chetwynd B.C. Small Detachment of 9.
You can e-mail me at pancho.sanchez@shaw.ca if you wish if you have anything I could help you with about Depot from a parent's point of view.
God bless both of your sons for picking such a noble profession and dedicating their lives to serve and protect.
