Liberal MP visits

A high-profile Liberal will be making a stop in Vernon today. Martha Hall Findlay, MP for Willowdale, Ont., will be at the Liberal’s Okanagan-Shuswap campaign office at 2801A 43th St. at 1 p.m. “It’s a huge boost to the campaign,” said Janna Francis, Okanagan-Shuswap candidate. “She is such a credible, competent person and to have her come here is terrific.” It’s expected Hall Findlay will speak about the Liberals’ campaign platform, which was unveiled Monday. Hall Findlay unsuccessfully ran for the Liberal leadership in 2006, and was elected to the House of Commons in a March 17, 2008 byelection. Francis is confident that Hall Findlay’s visit will increase the party’s profile in the riding prior to the Oct. 14 federal election. “It gets us excited as a campaign and me as a candidate, and it gets more profile on the campaign,” she said.
