DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page.
When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
One source of stinky air is bad enough but in Vernon there are two trouble spots.

It's no coincidence that Vernon shares exactly the same problem as the town of Gibsons. Both recent plant upgrades employ similar equipment and design philosophy. Gibsons' plant has been plagued with breakdowns from the start. Both projects were awarded to the same two firms: Stantec Consulting and Maple Reinders. Arbitration with the Town of Gibsons and the consulting engineers has been concluded under secrecy with a continued degradation of air quality. The air near the plant is not fit to breathe for any reasonable person, and questions should arise as to the quality of the effluent being discharged. In Gibsons for instance, no correlation between higher than normal fecal coliform counts in the harbour and insufficient process control at the plant has been indicated. The odour may be indicative of poor ecology in the bioreactors.
Hopefully by comparing the stinking tale of two cities, some basic truths can be established. Whatever happens in Vernon or Gibsons will respectively have an impact on the other. Whatever spin officials put on this lemon, they better get their story straight.
