Summerland mayor won‘t seek re-election

Kelowna Courier Sept 10
Summerland Mayor David Gregory is taking a political breather. Gregory will not seek re-election in the Nov. 15 municipal election after one term as mayor, announcing his decision at Monday night‘s council meeting. Elected officials should be held accountable for their campaign promises, Gregory said in an interview Tuesday. He noted the municipality was unsuccessful in obtaining a federal-provincial infrastructure grant to allow Summerland to tap into Okanagan Lake as a secondary source of water. “That was probably my most important election promise, and I didn‘t deliver,” he said. “Summerland is the only community on Okanagan Lake that doesn‘t use Okanagan Lake water to supplement our water system.”
