The North Okanagan Regional District will be asking residents in the electoral areas some tough questions in the near future. Electoral Area D Director Rick Fairbairn says now that the BC government has kept regional governance at status quo, NORD wants a review of the Electoral Area Services. Fairbairn says his constituents and those living in areas E and F will be sent surveys asking if they're happy with the way their area is governed.
NORD also approved a survey to be sent out to electoral area residents, asking areas B and C if they want to join Vernon, remain with the regional district or become a separate municipality.. The Regional District will be asking the Province for terms of reference for the review as well as some funding to do it. NORD Chair Jerry Oglow says the review will help directors cut through the rhetoric and find out what people living in electoral areas really want. Oglow says he expects the process won't be overnight and will similar to what occurred in Westbank before a referendum was held.
