Councillor Barry Beardsell's announcement that he's leaving politics may mean more Provincial funds for Vernon. While the media may enjoy Beardsell's 'off the cuff' remarks it seems Provincial government officials aren't so amused. Councillor Buffy Baumbrough says they were told at the UBCM meeting last week that Beardsell's constant bashing makes the Province not want to work with the city. She says Beardsell doesn't show an interest in respectful dialogue or putting solutions forward and that has been a detriment to our community. Beardsell announced this week he won't be running for re-election but Baumbrough says has decided to run again in November.
