Officials at ConocoPhillips are working to contain a well head fire about 30 kilometres east of Chetwynd, B.C., which has been burning since the early hours of Tuesday morning.A company spokesman said the fire was sparked by an influx of gas that damaged the rig, and prompted ConocoPhillips to set up road blocks in what is described as a remote area.In a bid to contain the leak, the company is likely to drill a relief well, a process that could take up to a couple of weeks. ConocoPhillips said it believes the leak poses no danger to the public.
