Many traffic violations in October

CASTANET:
Vernon RCMP issued a lot of traffic violation tickets in October. Traffic unit members did a final October enforcement blitz Friday in the City of Vernon and surrounding areas of Coldstream and the Regional District. Vernon RCMP spokesperson, Gord Molendyk, says they issued many warnings and tickets. “Those were six speeding tickets in or around schools, eight written warnings and three seat belt tickets. They also issued six warnings for tinted windows, defective headlights and other regulations. They also dealt with a drug bust as a result of a traffic stop,” says Molendyk. He says with the tickets issued Friday, the totals for the month of October are as follows.

“They issued 130 tickets issued for assorted offences under the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations, 31 written warnings, four notice and orders (notices to repair vehicles,) they impounded one vehicle. They also have one seizure of drugs.” Molendyk says this type of enforcement will be continuing for the foreseeable future within our communities. “The efforts and stats are separate from the recent lock down initiatives conducted within the City by the North Okanagan Traffic Services and the Integrated Road Safety Unit as well as members from the Vernon Office but are still aimed at improving road safety within the Vernon/North Okanagan areas.”
