Olympic torch stop announced for Vernon

107.5 KISSFM Pete McIntyre

The Olympic torch will come to the North Okanagan, just 17 days before the Winter Games. The actual date for Vernon was announced at a news conference today at Wesbild Centre, as January 26, 2010 when a three hour community celebration will be held at Polson Park. Vernon's Spirit of BC committee chair Jack Gilroy says Vernon is one of just 187 Canadian cities where celebrations will be held. The relay will also go through--- but not stop---- in Coldstream and Lumby where mayor Eric Foster says it will be a big deal. Details on how to be a torchbearer are available on the 2010 Olympic website.
