In celebration of the upcoming 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Vernon’s Spirit of B.C. committee is inviting the public to a special announcement today at 3:30 p.m. at the Wesbild Centre. “The Spirit of B.C. Vernon committee has been working very hard to make this opportunity a reality and we are looking forward to sharing this exciting news with the community and local media,” said chairman Jack Gilroy. “The committee appreciates your support, enthusiasm and participation in making this announcement special for the entire North Okanagan.” The committee was appointed in 2003 and it has worked on several projects to ensure that Vernon is positioned for opportunities arising from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. These projects include funding for various community projects, downtown banners, Community events and more.
