Liberal MLA Tom Christensen, the current minister of children and family development, will not be running in the next provincial election in May. Christensen said Tuesday he wanted to spend more time with his three young children, aged 10, seven and four. "Four more years involves many milestones in their lives," he said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon."To perform my responsibilities as an MLA and minister to my own satisfaction, I am unable to participate to the extent I want to in my children's lives." Christensen has been in the B.C. legislature since 2001, representing the constituency of Okanagan-Vernon.He served as minister of education and then minister of aboriginal relations and reconciliation before heading the children's ministry.
