Park Stays

The mobile home park on Okanagan avenue in Vernon will stay as is for now. Vernon council voted four to three in opposition to giving the rezoning application a third reading on Monday night. Mayor Wayne Lippert says the owner of the property can still develop it, he's allowed 8 housing units per acre without rezoning. The Mayor, and councillors Gilroy, Spiers and Nichol opposed the third reading.Lippert says the property owner has suggested the mobile home residents purchase the property themselves if they don't want to see it developed.Conditions of the application included preserving a wetland area and conducting studies on the development's impact.
