The City of Penticton is asking for public input into the city's Financial Plan at a series of special Council meetings. Meetings are set for January 12 and 13 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Council Chambers. A third meeting will be held Wednesday, January 14 starting at 6 p.m. if necessary.
The public is encouraged to attend the meetings. The proposed financial plan is available online at www.penticton.ca and at City Hall.
The 2009 Penticton budget includes a proposed 2.37% increase. More than $2 million was slashed from the original operating budget that will affect delivery of some services, including the elimination of discretionary grant in aids, a decrease of three RCMP officers through attrition, a $300,000 increase from surplus and a $100,000 reduction in the tourism budget.
