Vernon daily cutting costs

Jan 14, 2009 / 10:30 am CASTANET:

Vernon's daily newspaper is cutting costs. The advertising rep and reporter from the Vernon Daily Courier have both received pink slips in an effort to cut costs. Alison Yesilcimen, publisher of daily newspapers in Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton, says the paper still plans to cover events in Vernon with the use of freelancers, however, most of the work will be done out of Kelowna. The Courier office in Vernon has been closed, although Yesilcimen says she doesn't know if the closure is permanent.
