RCMP in Enderby are investigating a shooting incident on a rural property late Wednesday morning. Police say a man went to the Enderby Health Centre suffering from a gunshot wound while at the same time, a woman appeared at the Enderby RCMP Detachment claiming to have been assaulted. "Initial information is that the two individuals were on a rural property in the Trinity Valley area of Enderby when an altercation ensued and led to the male being shot and the female suffering injuries from an assault," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk. "The male was treated at the Interior Health Authority in Enderby then transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital where he underwent surgery for gunshot wounds." Molendyk says the 56-year-old man is in serious but stable condition. He is expected to be transferred to Kelowna General Hospital later in the day. He says the unidentified 46-year-old woman was treated for her injuries then returned to police custody. "The female is expected to appear in Salmon Arm court on Monday to face two firearms related charges." Molendyk says the two were not in a relationship adding the incident is not one of domestic violence. He says police returned to the property Thursday, armed with a search warrant.
